Two Hill Park coming to Jefferson Avenue
Congratulations to Scott Wiley for the winning design.
I had completely forgotten about the Jefferson Avenue Pocket Park design contest. Despite my lack of attention you can now check out the winning design by Scott Wiley’s (Two Hill Park) at Jefferson Pocket Park. This will be a great space to finish of your lunch from nearby Union Market or Alamo BBQ.
Highlights of the features and what they represent.
- Gateway Plaza- Concentric rings of granite cobbles from historic Richmond Streets encircle a
spring representing the origin of the draw between the two hills. - Church Hill-The Richmond urban fabric and city grid is imposed on the land.
- Union Hill-Topography is the main driver for street and architecture form.
- Jefferson Street Divide-The ravine was located along the junction of the two hills, collecting
runoff from both hills and directing flow to the James River.
