Suspect sought in trailer theft

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Thursday, May 28 in an alley in the 2300 block of West Main Street.

Third Precinct detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect in the photo and video (video sent separately), who is a person of interest in a recent theft of a cargo trailer.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Thursday, May 28 in an alley in the 2300 block of West Main Street. An employee noticed a black cargo trailer that had been secured at the back of the business was missing and reviewed security footage. The video shows a black male walk up to the trailer, leave the camera frame briefly to manipulate the trailer, then grab the tongue of the trailer and walk away.

The person of interest is described as a black male wearing a black hoodie-style jacket, jeans and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Eric Sandlin at (804) 646-1010 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
