Style Weekly dines at Chef MaMusu

Let’s hear the neighborhood reviews.

Every neighbor I have talked to that has been to Chef MaMusu has sung its praises. I have yet to go so I can’t share my incredible insight. The $15 starting price for entrees is a little off putting but everything else in this Style Weekly review convinces me that I need to give it a shot.

Home-brewed ginger beer or ginger tea ($2.50) is an excellent way to start your meal, the sweetness offset by a strong ginger bite. Order some appetizers, as food service is slow even when the dining room is sparsely filled. Good options include Caribbean standards such as jerk chicken wings and plantains, or Liberian soups and hush puppies. I recommend the fried cassava ($3.50), served as small fingers of starchy, breaded goodness, with a warm, mixed-vegetable dipping sauce.

Love this place. Hope they thrive there. The drinks (non alcoholic) are outstanding, the food is very flavorful and the service is outstanding, too.

Food is excellent! The price may seem high, but helpings are huge. You will most likely be able to share a meal or have leftovers to take home. That being said, I wish they would have the buffet open more often to also help make it more affordable. We would go more often if it were.
