Storm brings down SCOR dome and Buzz and Ned’s canopy

Jonas was not a fan of tasty barbecue or indoor soccer.

As you can see from the photo above Buzz and Ned’s (1119 N Boulevard) canopy  has caved in due to the heavy wet snow over the weekend.

SCOR Sports Center of Richmond (1385 Overbrook Road) had their dome collapse. The dome housed two soccer fields (one full sized). They released the following statement yesterday:

I am sorry to report that despite the valiant effort and hard work by the SCOR staff, the Dome collapsed at about 6:00 p.m. last night. Our Dome has survived and thrived for over 9 years, but the combination of snow, then ice, and then the heavy snow and wind yesterday proved too much to withstand.

We are asking you to bear with us as we assess the situation, but the good news is that we are already working on reschedule plans so that as many of you as possible can play your games, and enjoy whatever sport or activity you take part in at SCOR.
The timing of this storm definitely could have been better, we will come out of this bigger and better, but will definitely need everyone’s understanding and support. This is as good a time as any to announce that we have been working on expansion plans at SCOR, and this storm and the collapse of our Dome will not slow us down! We will, however, let everyone know our immediate, medium, and long range plans in the near future.

So we are asking; Please Don’t call us we’ll call/email you regarding your team’s schedule, or other scheduled events. We are very lucky that we have the outdoor field and next weekend’s temperatures are going to be very nice! We are lucky to have other areas at SCOR that we can run classes, parties, etc. so we will be in touch with you.
We will be open tomorrow (Monday) business as usual weather and roads permitting. Please keep your eyes and ears open as we get back to you with e-mails, Facebook posts, etc. We also will be calling team captains, and all contact persons to let you know the status of your league, games, or class.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR UNDERSTANDING AND PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE!!!
