Richmond City parents were shouting a collective “WTF?” this morning as they trudged through the snow (and wind) to load the kiddies on their buses and send them off to school.
The city finally gave in and canceled school (despite busloads of kids already being en route), but it looks like maybe they should have done so a bit earlier. See below for a current list of accidents involving school buses.

i understand that this was a tough call, but kids safety should have been the priority as soon as the snow started later than we had expected. that decision should have been made 3 hours before it was.
I’m beginning to lose count on the amount of times Richmond City has “dropped the ball” during these storms.
Between road clearing, potholes and now buses in ditches they’ve seriously failed. Get it together!
Hope all the children made it home safely. My husband was driving our child to school when I received the news school had been cancelled. Fortunately they made it back home before the big white outs.
We made the call at our home that no one was braving a potential blizzard cum auto accident. While on the phone to our kid’s school informing them of our decision, we were told: “Good call! We just cancelled school!”
“Sorry work, I can’t come in because there are 3 school buses blocking the way.” Thanks RPS!
I saw a bus this morning on Douglasdale lose control and nearly slide into the tree-lined median. When the driver finally managed to bring the bus to a stop he or she promptly opened the door and made all the kids get off the bus. Totally unsafe. So glad I don’t have any beasties.
