This Tuesday (June 5th) Venus will pass between Earth and the Sun in a “transit” that’ll be visible to the naked eye. You definitely don’t want to miss this super rare event, because it will not happen again in your lifetime (unless you’re secretly an immortal, then, by all means, feel free to plan something else that day).

However, if you want to check it out you’ll need to use protection.

Lucky for you RVANews has you covered. We’ve got a stack of “solar viewing” glasses that’ll allow you to stare directly at the surface of the sun as Venus goes about its transiting business. We’re giving them out for free on a first come, first serve basis. Fill out this form if you’re interested:

Apparently I was too slow on the draw to score a pair of the glasses. Anyone know of another place to procure a pair?

  2. M.J.,
The Science Museum of Virginia has you covered.
You can peer through the solar-filtered telescopes between 6:00 pmand sunset or pick up a pair of solar shades at their shop for $1.
