RPS holding job fair for wannabe school bus drivers

Four job fairs scheduled, beginning July 13.

You have to be of a certain mental fortitude to take on the task of safely driving busloads of children to and from school. I think back on the grief as a young bus rider I caused to various bus drivers and know that I’m lacking the patience to even attend the job fair. Perhaps you have skills and desire to drive a school bus. Also the urge to post Otto from The Simpson’s was strong.

WHAT: The Department of Pupil Transportation for Richmond Public Schools (RPS), in partnership with the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), will host several job fairs for bus drivers for the upcoming 2016- 2017 school year.

Interested applicants must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid driver’s license with
no more than two moving violations within the past 12 months. Additional qualifications, including a Commercial Driver’s License
Learner’s permit, can be found by visiting richmond.k12.va.us. Bilingual skills, including Spanish, are a plus.
