Richmond Public Pools offering free swim lessons

Classes for ages 5 to adult.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will offer free swim lessons at eight of the city’s pools beginning Tuesday.

Classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for ages 5 to 12 and Friday evenings for ages 13 and up. Both classes will focus on water safety and basic aquatic skills. The first session will operate through July 24 for the youth classes and through Aug. 8 for the adult classes. A second session begins Aug. 5.
The participating pools are Battery Park, Bellemeade, Blackwell, Fairmount, Powhatan, Randolph and Woodville for both sessions and Hotchkiss for the second session.
