Internal Affairs Detectives investigating weekend accident on Broad Street

Multiple news outlets report on odd incident.

Local news outlets reported this weekend about a car accident that took place on Broad Street in Church Hill early Sunday morning.

According to WTVR.com:

Witnesses who shot cell phone video in Church Hill Sunday morning claim the driver of a vehicle that almost hit them is the daughter of a local police officer, and that she was drunk.

In their article detailing the incident, RVA Magazine quotes an eye-witness, who said that no breathalyzer or field sobriety tests were administered. You can read their full account here.

Yesterday, the Richmond Police Department issues a statement on Facebook and Twitter in reference to the incident:

In reference to cell phone video of part of an incident that occurred this weekend in Church Hill, the Richmond Police Department would like the public to know that Internal Affairs detectives are aware of the incident and are investigating to determine exactly what happened.

They are in the very early stages of the investigation, and anyone with any information about this incident may contact them at 646-6816.
