Good job tracking & showing data on the city’s murders. I think it’s actually missing one though- there was a stabbing death in late May on Grove Ave that isn’t listed on this site.

@Rob: Correct. There’s that one, and there’s another one from this past weekend (on 1st Avenue) that aren’t listed on the City’s official list. Sometimes this is For Reasons, other times it’s because they haven’t yet updated the website. I usually update our list when the Police update their’s to avoid confusion.

The Grove Avenue one you mentioned was originally a “Death Investigation” and now looks like it’s a 2nd-degree murder. The 1st Avenue one, I’m not sure.

The double homicide in colonial apartments on Aug 24 isn’t listed

The map only covers City of Richmond, and Colonial Apartments are in Henrico County.

Frustrating to go into the month of December on the verge of a “better year” (and I say that wishing that the number was actually 0), but then coming out of December here with at least a worse year than 2011 and 2013. Especially with 3 teenagers in the last 2ish weeks.

  6. It is great to see these numbers with historical context. It would be even better to compare them to the state, nation and other city averages too. I would also be interested to see how crime rates are changing in other municipalities that are part of the Richmond region.
