Reedy Creek Coalition speaks out against the proposed Reedy Creek Restoration
This is the first time in the Coalition’s history they are opposing a proposed city project for Reedy Creek.

Earilier this week we ran an article about a the proposed Reedy Creek Restoration. At the time I was unaware of the Reedy Creek Coalition’s opinion on the matter. Today the Coalition has posted an article that goes into the details of their opposition and why for the first time in their history they are opposing a proposed city project for Reedy Creek.
Top 5 Reasons for Opposition to the Proposed Stream Restoration in Reedy Creek:
Reason 1: Lack of Data Collection for Proper Choice of Stream Restoration Site
Reason 2: Proposed Site is “High Risk”
Reason 3: Address Root Causes of Stream Degradation First: Watershed Restoration before Stream Restoration
Reason 4: Proposed Site is “Low Benefit”
Reason 5: Destruction of Tree Canopy and Park Property
To really understand the situation you’ll need to visit the link above as each of their reasons is backed up with a convincing argument.

Thanks for sharing this! The Reedy Creek Coalition is a terrific group of knowledgeable and passionate persons who volunteer their time and skills. I find their arguments against this project fully compelling. Is there anything we can do at this point to get the City to step backwards?
Amy, and any others wondering what they can do, the best thing would be to send a short e-mail to your City Council person (and perhaps the mayor’s office as well) and then if you can, come to voice your opposition in person at the meeting the city is holding to present their plans to the public at 7:00 pm on this Tuesday, Feb 23rd at the Stone House in Forest Hill Park.
Amy, the city is hosting a meeting about the plan on Tuesday night. The other article at http://rvanews.com/news/take-a-peek-at-the-plan-for-reedy-creek-restoration/134236 has details.
