Purse thief sought, almost in the bag

This first happened back in April but now we’ve got a name.

From RPD:

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to a man wanted in connection with an April theft of a purse from a vehicle in Church Hill.

William T. Bell, 32, is wanted on charges of grand larceny and credit card theft.

Around 3:30 p.m. on April 24, officers were called to the 100 block of N. 29th Street for a report of a theft from motor vehicle. A short time later, witnesses about a block away near East Grace Street alerted police to a man walking a dog and carrying a purse, who was later identified as Bell. They reported seeing him drop the purse and run toward East Broad Street. The purse was recovered by officers, but the wallet and credit cards were missing.

Anyone with any information about this individual is asked to call First Precinct Detective A.G. Partain at (804) 646-1290 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip or submit a tip online at www.7801000.com.
