PrideFest 2011 happens this Saturday

Fresh on the heels of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal, VA Pride’s PrideFest 2011 will happen this weekend. We have info on the vendors, entertainment, featured dinner and drink specials throughout Richmond, and after-party festivities that will make all this fun even more FUNNER!

This Saturday, VA Pride Pride Fest 2011 will occur in Richmond at Kanawha Plaza, located at 8th and Canal streets, between 1pm – 8pm. Martha Wash (the “Everybody dance now!” voice from the famous C&C Music Factory song!!!!!) will perform, among other entertainers.

  • Crossroads Coffee and Ice Cream
  • Suntrust
  • CapitalOne
  • Nacho Mama’s
  • People of Faith for Equality VA
  • St. Johns United Church of Christ

In addition, over a dozen restaurants, bars, and clubs are sponsoring this event, offering Pride patrons specials throughout the night. A full list of participating businesses and their specials can be found HERE.

And even though the event ends at 8pm, there are a BUNCH of after parties to keep the celebrations going:

Babes of Carytown hosts an After Pride cookout on the back deck with DJ and dancing inside.  $5, 21+

Barcode becomes ‘Code 54’ with a disco and Studio 54-inspired evening.  Sponsored by Absolut Vodka and Loveland Dist., DJ Elbert mixes things up.  No cover, 21+

Club Colours heats things up with their weekly 18+ dance party that will be booming until 3 a.m.  $10.  534 N. Harrison St.

Godfrey’s hosts a special After Pride Champagne Reception with Alexis Mateo from Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 3.  Tickets for this 8:30 p.m. VIP event limited to 100 include heavy hors d’oeurves, admission to the after party, and a meet and greet with Mateo.  A $30 ticket includes 4 rail cocktails, champagne, beer and wine, or soda or a $15 includes everything except cocktails.  For tickets, call (804) 648-3957.  Doors open to the public at 10 p.m. for “It’s Raining Men” Pride After Party with a $5 cover before 11 p.m. and a $10 cover after 11 p.m.  Stick around for an underwear contest and drag show featuring Miss Capital City Gay Pride. Sounds like a circus in there!

Nations opens at 6 p.m. for dinner and happy hour at their Show Your Pride After Party.  Go-go dancing begins at 9 p.m. with Ki Ki Frost’s All Male Revue Show at 10 p.m.  No cover before 9 p.m., $5 after 9 p.m., 21+
