President Obama will visit Richmond region today
The president will visit the Richmond region for the fourth time since September 2010, as he will address Rolls-Royce Crosspointe this morning on the topics of employment and technology. Gov. Bob McDonnell will also be in attendance
Later today President Obama is scheduled to speak at Rolls-Royce Crosspointe, a jet engine parts manufacturer in Prince George County. It is expected that the president will speak about national employment on the heels of today’s release by the Labor Department on February’s employment figures, as well as touching on technology and industry-related themes.
Last year, Rolls-Royce Crosspointe unveiled a 180,000-square-foot plant and have also recently announced plans to build a 90,000-square-foot factory beside the existing plant. The company has operated in the United States for over 100 years and employs nearly 8,000 people across twenty-six states.
Planning to greet the Mr. Obama at Richmond International Airport is Gov. Bob McDonnell, who is also planning to attend the event at Rolls-Royce Crosspointe with the president. Afterwards, the President will fly to Houston, Texas to attend two campaign events.
This will be the fourth visit to Central Virginia by the president since September 2010.
