Police seek suspect in hit and run

At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, a vehicle driven by the suspect was involved in a rear-end collision with a vehicle and a GRTC bus in the 1500 block of Leigh Street.

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect in the photo and video (video sent separately) who was involved in a hit and run last week.

At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, a vehicle driven by the suspect was involved in a rear-end collision with a vehicle and a GRTC bus in the 1500 block of Leigh Street. The suspect left the vehicle before quickly returning to collect some belongings. The suspect then walked away from the scene of the accident on Leigh Street and turned southbound on Lombardy Street.

Injuries were reported from the two vehicles that were struck. The injuries are not considered life threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male in a white t-shirt, jeans and a cap. The striking vehicle was a red Toyota van. The van has been impounded and remains part of the investigation.

Detectives ask anyone with any information about this person to call Crash Team Sergeant Scott Jones at (804) 646-1369 or call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
