Record Store Day was founded in 2007 as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA and hundreds of similar stores internationally. On this day hundreds of independently owned music stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.
