PHOTOS: Sled debris
Amazing the amount of trash that gets left behind.
Like a swarm of locust the sledders descend on Forest Hill Park every snowfall and just like those locusts they leave a path of destruction in their wake. The heavy rain over the weekend pushed the majority of the trash towards and I’m sure in some cases into Reedy Creek.
These pictures were taken this morning just as two city trucks pulled up and began to assess the situation.

I noticed this on Friday afternoon when I was hiking down there. The pile of tubes and broken sleds right at the top of the drainage (in your last photo) is even worse in person than your picture shows. It’s pretty disgusting, pounds of broken plastic and cardboard just strewn in a pile Third-World style in a watercourse. Those stupid hard plastic sleds just don’t last and when they break they shatter into hundreds of pieces. Sad that people can’t take home the garbage they create.
Perhaps the Richmond Parks and Rec could fund the purchase of new grass seed through littering fines.
Good catch, Richard.
