Pastor G cancels appearance in Church Hill

The former ROC pastor released a statement saying that he doesn’t want to take the focus off of “the love, grace, and forgiveness that Jesus showed us on the cross.”

It looks like public pressure has lead Pastor G to cancel his involvement with the Cedar Street Baptist Church’s Good Friday Celebration.

From NBC12:

The former-ROC pastor was scheduled to be a special guest on April 18, but Cedar Street Baptist Pastor Anthony Chandler confirmed Thursday Aguilar will no longer be taking part in the service.

The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, released a statement yesterday regarding his involvement:

We are outraged that this man, Geronimo Aguilar, who has been charged with sexually abusing two children, will soon give a talk at Cedar Street Baptist Church as part of a special Easter event…We urge Cedar Baptist Church to reconsider letting “Pastor G” to preach at the Rush Hour to Calvary on Good Friday. We hope that the other pastors scheduled to preach will refuse to do so unless Aguilar is removed from the lineup.

Many have taken to social media to voice their displeasure with the church’s earlier decision to invite Pastor G, including posting content critical of Cedar Street on the church’s official Facebook page.

According to the church, the event will continue as planned, albeit without Pastor G.
