GIVE A DAY AND GET HANDSON AT THE SEVENTH ANNUAL HANDSON DAY SERVICE EVENT
1,000 Volunteers Needed to Transform Greater Richmond on Saturday, October 18

What:
HandsOn Greater Richmond (HandsOn) is calling on Richmond area residents to volunteer for the Seventh Annual HandsOn Day service event. About 1,000 volunteers are needed to help transform the metro Richmond region by participating in one of 60 service projects Saturday, October 18.

A wide range of service projects are open to members of the community of all ages and skills to bettering the region by helping local nonprofit organizations, schools, and parks. This HandsOn Day will feature Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects and “Drop-In” projects, so volunteers who can’t attend one of the events or can’t commit all morning to a project can still participate. A celebration at Hardywood will follow the day of service.

Since the first HandsOn Day in 2008, annual volunteer participation in the event has more than doubled, also significantly increasing the value of service and donated goods. Last year, HandsOn Day brought Richmonders together to provide more than 5,737 volunteer hours at 48 different nonprofits and community organizations—an estimated $129,370 value of volunteer impact for the community. In addition, HandsOn leveraged over $12,000 in donations to directly support project supplies and the needs of the organizations served. With your help, HandsOn can make an even greater impact through this year’s day of service.

When:
Saturday, October 18, 2014, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a celebration at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
