Nonprofits can make videos for the Amazing Raise and win money

Organizers of one the most fun and lucrative fundraising events for nonprofits have added a new way for local organizations to promote themselves and win money.

Since 2011, The Amazing Raise has helped local nonprofits raise money and awareness through the event’s 36-hour blitz of public donations. In addition to members of the public donating to their favorite charities, organizers of the event, The Community Foundation, supplement those public donations with prize money when organizations achieve certain donation goals (such as most individual donations during the event, most donations by a certain time, etc).

For this year’s event, nonprofits are encouraged to create and submit a video that describes and highlights itself. Winning videos could net organizations up to $1,500.

Videos must uploaded to YouTube by September 9th and not exceed two minutes. More details are available here (PDF). Videos won’t be judged on production value, but on the strength of its message.

The two available prizes are:

  • Go Viral! • awarded to the organization with the most popular video based on reach. $1,500 for first place, $500 for the runner-up.
  • Spirit of Giving • awarded to the organization with the video that “best promotes the spirit of giving.” $1,500 for first place, $500 for the runner-up.

Winners and runner-ups will be announced by 12:00 PM September 17th.
