Murder at the Clarion Hotel, arrests made

RTD has the latest update on this crime which takes an international turn but still no information on why this crime took place.

Two suspects in the shooting death of a New York woman at a Richmond hotel earlier this month have been arrested, one in Virginia Beach and another in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

A third man, identified in news reports in the Virgin Islands as J’Wa Charlery, is still being sought.
Shane Rivera, 20, was arrested in Virginia Beach after 22-year-old Eboniece Escobar was found Nov. 2 with a single gunshot wound to the head at the Clarion Hotel on North Boulevard.

Authorities declined to say why the three were with Escobar, or why she was in Richmond.

In custody and fighting extradition is Jimmar Payne, 21, of St. Croix.

Yesterday afternoon RPD released the following information about the victim.

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in Sunday’s homicide as Eboniece M. Escobar, 22, of New York, New York.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight in the city’s north side.

Shortly before 10:00 o’clock Sunday evening, officers were called to the Clarion Hotel in the 3200 block of North Boulevard for reports of a disturbance.

In one of the rooms, they discovered the body of an adult female who had been shot.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
