The mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, has launched a national campaign to repeal “Stand Your Ground” laws throughout the country. It comes from the legal and political fallout stemming from the shooting death of Trayvon Martin:
“The NRA’s ‘shoot first’ laws that have passed in 25 states have undermined the integrity of the justice system and done serious harm to public safety,” says Bloomberg.
We took a look at Virginia’s self-defense laws and compared them to Florida’s. You’d be surprised how similar they are.

When does a billionaire mayor have any need to defend himself? Surely, he has surrounded himself with yes men. Common people, occasionally, are on their own. The Bill of Rights should not be treated as suggestions, either.
