BACKGROUND:

Mayor Dwight C. Jones introduced City Ordinance 2015-2-15 to rename the Manchester Courthouse, located at 920 Hull Street, as the “Henry L. Marsh, III and Harold M. Marsh, Sr., Manchester Courthouse.” This renaming will memorialize the achievements of two Richmond residents who made extraordinary contributions to African-American history in the city of Richmond and who worked to seek justice and equality for all.

Richmond City Council voted unanimously to approve the ordinance and dedicate the Manchester Courthouse to Henry L. Marsh, III and Harold M. Marsh, Sr. The May 20 event is the official ceremony to rename the courthouse.
