We haven’t received the usual RPD press release that comes out for incidents such as this, so we’re relying on this report from RTD.

A man was found fatally shot outside a Westover Hills Boulevard gas station early Monday, a Richmond police spokesman said.
The man’s body was found on the asphalt near the gas pumps outside a BP station at 1 Westover Hills Blvd. near Midlothian Turnpike about 2 a.m., said Gene Lepley, the spokesman. A passer-by discovered the body and flagged down a passing police officer about 2:15 a.m.

The body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office. Lepley said the victim appeared to have died as the result of gunshot wounds.

Lepley said the gas station area was well-lit in the early morning hours and that police hoped to learn more from surveillance videos there and other businesses.

Anyone with information can call police at 780-1000.
