Man falling or jumping off Powhite Bridge ends in dramatic helicopter rescue

Incident occurred around 11:15 AM on Wednesday, unknown if the man fell or jumped.

The person who was rescued had jumped into the river off of the Powhite Parkway bridge, according to witnesses. After floating down the river 100 – 150 feet, the person ended up on a rock.

Richmond river rescue and two state police helicopters arrived helped in the rescue. Officials said the victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

    WOW. Did you see that landing? That pilot is quite amazing! Kudos to him and the whole crew that pulled off that rescue off so flawlessly on slippery James River rocks.
