Man dies after altercation with VCU Ambulatory Care Center Pharmacy security guard
The case has been turned over to Richmond Police.
At some point, according to Whitaker’s family, there was a disagreement with a security guard over whether it was Whitaker’s turn to approach the pharmacy window. An altercation ensued, which left Whitaker with a “serious head injury,” according to Richmond police.
Despite VCU Medical Center’s efforts to save him, Whitaker died Sunday as a result of his encounter with the guard, who is expected to face criminal charges, according to police.
