Historic home in Church Hill under contract

Meet the new residents of the Luther Libby House, built in 1851.

The Luther Libby House, located at N. 29th Street and Libby Terrace, is now under contract. Built in 1851, the 5,688-square-foot home went on the market in November for $798,000.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch has more on Church Hill’s new residents:

Kevin and LucyWheatley, two attorneys from Washington, are ready to take over the Luther Libby House.

It has been home to Karl and Mary Corley, retired educators, for 40 years. Their two children grew up in the house, and the Corleys are ready to move into a retirement community.

Lucy Wheatley will work largely from home for her Washington law firm, she said. Her husband plans to move his practice here.

They like Church Hill because of the historic and urban feel, Lucy Wheatley said.

“The views from the Luther Libby house are amazing and so classic Richmond,” she said.

“For us, the location across from a park was also very appealing, as we have young children who need room to run around, but we didn’t particularly want to maintain a large yard.”
