From NBC12:

The person vanished in the waters off the 9100 block of Cherokee Road in Richmond. Richmond Fire and EMS crews were forced to temporarily suspend their search for one of two people from a canoe that overturned in the James River Monday evening, due to bad weather.

One person from the canoe was able to swim to shore, but a second person wasn’t wearing a personal flotation device when the canoe overturned.

Richmond Fire and EMS responded around 5:30 p.m. Crews were able to get the canoe out of the water.

The Richmond Fire and Henrico Fire Departments will resume their search at 9 a.m. They will focus on north of the Huguenot Bridge.
