I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for the weekend.

Good morning, RVA! It’s 65 °F, and today looks to be another stellar day in Richmond: highs in the mid-80s, sunny, with a strong chance of out-of-doors happy hours in the afternoon.

Yesterday, Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine killing 298 people, making it the most deadly aviation incident since 9/11. Vox has a good list of what we know and what we don’t know.

Also yesterday, Israel began a ground offensive in Gaza. The BBC has a grim and apathetic take on the situation.

If you’re looking for a distraction from the developing international crises, you can check out today’s top story on the RTD: the launch of the meerkat cam.

Tonight at 10:00 PM the Coalition Theater is hosting a viewing of Fast Five, the fifth The Fast and the Furious movie. Sound snoozy? Well, they’re showing it on two screens simultaneously: one featuring a supercut of the action scenes and one featuring a supercut of the emotional scenes.

If you’ve purchased a factory-sealed beverage in a restaurant at some point in the last decade and were charged a meals tax, you are eligible for a refund. Just take your receipt to the city’s finance department, and be prepared to explain to them why you’re wasting everyone’s time over $0.18.

LeBron: I’m coming back to Cleveland

I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get.

I finally got around to reading LeBron James’s “essay” about coming back to Cleveland. Say what you will about that guy, the bits about helping your hometown and hoping to see kids come back after college and open a business really hit me in the feels.
