Good Morning, RVA: This is my kind of town

It’s looking like a wonderful-weather Tuesday.

Good morning, RVA! It’s 56 °F, and today could be a stunner with highs in the low 80s and sunny–just how grandma used to make ’em. If you’ve got an out-of-doors or sun-related task to accomplish, do it today because clouds and storms roll in tonight.

If you missed Dominion Riverrock’s record-breaking, dog-jumping, booty-shaking good time this past weekend, relive it (albeit in a much more introverted way) through these photos.

Who says online voting contests are a waste of time? Tell that guy to shut his dumb face, because Pocahontas State Park just won $33,000 dollars from the Bell Helmets contest! Great clicking, RVA.

A state budget thing is happening. You know the deal: a political showdown that leads to a government shutdown. State lawmakers have until June 1st to adopt a budget and avoid a Series of Unfortunate Events.

Check out this crazy sinkhole in the end zone of Austin Peay’s football field! Sinkholes are terrifying.

Editing while female

The best piece on the ouster of Jill Abramson I’ve read yet.

Love Jill Abramson or hate her, do you really believe that all of these women were unsuited for their jobs and temperamentally incompatible with the positions they had worked so hard to earn, after having beaten out male competitors in every case, and in environments where few if any other women flourished? Is it really possible that women editors, a rare species to begin with, can have a failure rate so close to 100 percent?”
