Good morning, RVA and happy Halloween! It’s 45 °F; colder and colder still it gets. Highs today may just break 60 °F, and by 8:00 PM they’ll drop below 50 °F. That means, if your Halloween costume is on the skimpy side, like, say, a sexy actuary, you’ll need to bring along a sexy coat or at least a sexy windbreaker.

It’s Halloween.

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, so set your clocks back–assuming you still own any clocks that don’t do this automatically. George Vernon Hudson, an entomologist from New Zeland, first proposed DST so he could have more daylight each day to gather bugs. And now, 100 years later, everyone hates his dumb, buggy guts.

Over 1,700 girls played high school football last year, and I love reading stories about them. This one in today’s RTD is no exception. Midlothian kicker Ashley Hancock is 10-of-13 on extra points, 3-of-3 on field goals with a long of 38 yards, and is credited with at least one tackle. The article certainly doesn’t pass the Finkbeiner Test, but that’s not Hancock’s fault. Midlothian hosts Monacan tonight at 7:30 PM.
