Good Morning, RVA: The End of the Road

Andrew Cothern says goodbye to his daily duties of keeping you informed and entertained.

Good morning, RVA! Let’s start with the sad news. This will be my final GMRVA as the bossman Ross Catrow will be back next week. I’ve enjoyed sharing my thoughts and links with you this past week and there’s already been a huge amount of nice words from readers (thank you!) so maybe Ross will let me do this again in the future.

It’s 73°F right now and skies will be partly cloudy all day with a chance of scattered thunderstorms. But weather reports having been saying that all week and have been completely wrong, so I wouldn’t hold much to that.

The season premiere of Doctor Who is Saturday! There’s a brand new Doctor (Peter Capaldi), lots of aliens, dinosaurs running through Victorian London, companions in danger and quirkiness that only the Doctor can bring. We’ve been waiting for the new Doctor since Matt Smith’s tearful farewell last year and the moment is finally here. I’m more excited than Jessie Spano on caffeine pills right now.

Fall Line Fest has released its music schedule of when bands are playing. The event is Sept. 5 and 6 and it’s going to be an incredible weekend. Make sure to buy your tickets now.

I can’t even with this whole McDonnell trial. It just keeps getting crazier every day and I hope someone was smart enough to buy the rights to make the made-for-television movie at a good price. The former governor says he and his wife are living apart and their marriage is “basically on hold.” The Richmond Times-Dispatch has more.

There’s a new sexy locally-made app, Luhvah, that lets you rate your sexual availability score and send it to your partner. So if you’re out with a couple and both their phones buzz at the same time and they immediately have to leave, you know they’re going to go do it. There’s a release party at the Camel on Sept. 12. I totally thought Luhvah was a band performing when I saw the Camel’s schedule and nearly died when I found what it actually was.

There’s no more fitting video to sign off from GMRVA. Thank you all.
