Good morning RVA: Prepare thyself

With Wednesday’s impending snow storm, you’re kind of running out of time to buy Milk and Bread.

Good morning RVA! It’s 24 °F outside, with a high of 31 °F around 4:00 PM. It’s cold, so wear a coat, bundle up, and put on your long johns. Consider it a practice run for tomorrow when all hell breaks loose.

We’re currently under a Winter Storm Watch from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon, with just about everyone predicting significant snow accumulation starting Wednesday afternoon. What’s significant? I’ve seen anywhere from four inches to 18 inches. If you haven’t made a trip to Kroger for Milk and Bread, you’re running out of time!

Joking aside, this has the potential to be a major winter storm, so take it seriously and do some simple preparations.

As for traffic, the roads look good and there’s nothing to report.

Yesterday Julia Mancusa picked up the bronze medal in the super-combined–a skiing event that only insane people would attempt.

Overall, Team USA has six medals (two gold in snowboarding, a silver and a bronze in freestyle skiing, a bronze in alpine skiing, and a bronze in figure skating). That puts them/us in fourth place overall, behind Canada (9), Netherlands (7), and Norway (7).

Today we’ve got more women’s curling (against Russia!), the women’s slope style skiing finals, men’s cross country sprint finals, some women’s speed skating finals, and about a trillion more things. It’s overwhelming!

Shirley Temple died last night at the age of 85. We all know that celebrity deaths come in threes; first Philip Seymour Hoffman, now Shirley Temple, who’s next?

Yesterday, President Obama and French President Francois Hollande visited Monticello.

While last night’s City Council meeting wasn’t about baseball, your choice of apparel can be with this awesome “I have opinions about baseball” T-shirt.1

  1. Not an actual shirt, unfortunately.
