Good Morning, RVA: More of yesterday, today

On deck for today: more of the same. Booooooring.

Good morning, RVA! It’s 70 °F, and today is a near carbon copy of yesterday. For all you digital natives out there, “carbon copy” was how we copy and pasted before computers; a dirty and unpleasantly tactile sheet of paper was involved. They were dark times. Anyway: sunny, hot, and generally rad all around!

The Marva Maid milk advisory has expanded from Henrico County Schools to all Marva Maid Dairy milk in half-pint containers with sell-by dates from May 30th to June 2nd. Do half-pint milk containers exist outside of school cafeterias?

The new Fortune 500 list, which is like Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 but for corporations (which totally aren’t people), is out. RVA hosts six companies on the list: Altria (161), Dominion (212), CarMax (240), Genworth (291), Owens & Minor (303), and MeadWestvaco (457).

The medical Examiner’s office has ruled that GWAR front man Dave Brockie died of an accidental heroin overdose. I enjoyed these thoughts from Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe on alcohol, drugs, and addiction.

Founder, editor, and publisher of the Richmond Free Press, Ray Boone, died yesterday.
