Good morning, RVA! It’s 40 °F, rainy, and it will continue to rain most of the day and into the night. The weekend, though, looks mighty fine.

News about the arrest and injury of black UVA student Martese Johnson by ABC agents continues to spread nationally, but I haven’t yet read anything that precisely nails my feelings about the whole thing. I know that, as a boring white dude who’s done his fare share of drinking, I have absolutely zero expectation that any sort of law enforcement officer would use force on my person in any situation. I don’t think a lot of folks get to have that same expectation, unfortunately.
Related, NBC12 reports that the ABC will meet with UVA’s student council in a public meeting today at 1:00 PM where they will field questions from the audience.
Style Weekly has a quick bit about life after Uber for local taxi drivers. Spoiler alert: it’s not the best. Last year we looked into some of the rules and regulations that taxifolk must adhere to, many of which are bananas.
CNN made this Election 2106: Too Many Cooks video, and it fills my heart with gladness.
Sports!
- #7 Rams were bounced from the tournament by #10 Ohio State in overtime. Sigh.

- Spiders host Arizona State Sunday at 7:30 PM.
- Caps whipped the Wild, 3-2. They’ll play the Jets tomorrow at 7:00 PM.

Three drinks shoves you right up to the blurry border between you and drunkenness, a line in the sand that’s been washed over by a wave — you can still see it, but barely. It’s a thrilling place to be. You’re flying, feeling it, maybe spitting out the wrong word every now and then, maybe calling your sister for no reason, but you could still operate a forklift if you really had to.
