Good Morning, RVA: Every other day of the week is fine

But whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time.

Good morning, RVA! It’s 63 °F, and today’s mid-70s highs come with clouds and a slight chance of rain. I know I’ve said in the past that were almost through with those wonderful Richmond fall days, but, as of right now, we’ve got an entire week of them lined up ahead of us. That makes this Monday morning slightly more tolerable.

The RTD’s Zachary Reid has a hat trick of articles about Richmond Public Schools that you need to read:

  1. A profile of Superintendent Bedden and a Q&A with each member of the staff he’s put together.
  2. A more light-hearted look at Dr. Bedden and the process he went through building his team.
  3. And finally, a short bit about the work ahead of RPS as they near the winter budgeting season.

Style Weekly’s back-page editorial, which I somehow missed last week, takes the mayor to task over the confidentiality agreement he asked council members to sign before revealing the details of Byron Marshall’s departure.

I did not know oranges were flammable.

Protests, and a Ferguson-style government response, began in Hong Kong this weekend over China’s shifting stance on the impending 2017 election. As always, Vox has the explainer if you need to get caught up.

When Blogging Becomes a Slog

Here’s an article in the New York Times–is it me or does it drip with schadenfreude?–about the local bloggers at Young House Love’s decision to put that project on hold. Mainstream media condescendingly rejoices at the end of an independent publishing project! News at eleven!

The Petersiks declined to be interviewed for this article; Ms. Petersik responded in an email that “we really would like to clear our heads and refocus.” But they are not alone in their experience. Blogger burnout seems to be something that many of their colleagues in the world of home and D.I.Y. blogs, most of them in their 20s and early 30s, can relate to as well.

Is the first generation of design bloggers aging out of the blogosphere? Or is this just a new twist on an old business story, updated for the Internet age?

I would love if you added Bsltimore Orioles updates to the sports section as well.
