Good Morning, RVA: A beautiful day!
I will take as many beautiful December days as I can get.

Good morning, RVA! It’s 43 °F, and we’re back in action! Highs today will stay in the upper-50s, but the gross and goomy rain is gone, leaving behind clear and blue skies. Things will start to cool off tomorrow, and get downright cold on Saturday, but, for now, the weather remains perfectly pleasant.

Richmond.com is dead! Long live Richmond.com!
The city’s Land Use, Housing and Transportation Committee has approved a proposal for a bike share program ahead of The Big Bike Race. I love the idea of parking somewhere in The Fan and spending the day zipping around on a bike from place to place–and at $75 for an annual membership, seems like no-brainier.
CHPN lists this year’s SEED grant winners, which includes a dedicated pudding shop. If you know and love a restaurant, shop, or small business in the East End, it’s probably benefited from this grant program.
Style Weekly has some history that I never knew about the bell tower on Virginia Union’s campus. You probably knew it was a gift to the school from Belgium after the 1939 World’s Fair, but did you know the original bells were given to Herbert Hoover who gave them to Stanford?
The BRT–that’s Bus Rapid Transit–is coming to a Richmond near you, and we’re gonna need to call it something. You can vote on the name you like best, or even suggest a new name–I offered “The Bus to Mekong” as an alternative.
This is really terrible and incredibly upsetting: 145 people, including 100 children, were killed in Pakistan by Taliban gunmen.
Sports!
- Rams put together quite a performance and beat Belmont, 78-51. You’re gonna want to watch this dunk.
- Caps fell to the Panthers, 1-2, after a scoreless overtime ended in a shoutout. Not just any shoot out, though! Eric Spivack hipped me to that fact that this was a 20 round shoot out, the longest in NHL history.

9 things I wish people understood about anxiety
2) Anxiety is not rational, and boy, do we know it
Like, seriously, I promise you: we know. You really cannot spend all day every day listening to the thoughts of an anxious person and not know that a large portion of those thoughts make approximately no sense at all. Just last week, I found myself worrying that my parents would look at the person I was and decide they hated me, despite knowing to the depths of my soul that is not something that would ever occur. This is one of the most frustrating things about having an anxiety disorder: knowing as you’re freaking out that there’s no reason to be freaked out, but lacking the ability to shut the emotion down.
