Giant waterslide to shut down a few city streets

First bike races now waterslides when will these closures for fun end?

Slide the City is scheduled for this Saturday and will turn East Byrd Street into a waterslide. The cheap tickets are sold out but for $40/$60 /$99 you can join in the chaos. Despite the grim looking weather outside right now, tomorrow is suppose to be pretty awesome.

From 4 a.m. to 11 p.m., East Byrd Street between Second and Ninth Streets will be closed.

Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh streets will be closed south of Canal.

Use Second Street to access Brown’s Island on Saturday.

If your thinking about skipping this event and doing the giant James River waterslide know that according the the Westham River Gauge it’s predicted to be over five feet.  Over five feet means life jackets are required for any playing in the river.
