Fundraiser for Christopher “Max” Maxwell, founder of WRIR and community activist
Help out a man who has helped out so many.
Christopher “Max” Maxwell has had an amazing influence on life in Richmond and many, myself included, have never heard his name. Starting up the public radio station WRIR, VCU recycling program and playing a key role in the creation of Richmond’s first hostel are but a few examples of his work.
Max is currently battling prostate cancer and the cost related to its surgery as well as some additional surgery. The community has come together to raise funds and remove some of the financial burden so he can focus on getting better.
“I still have a LOT to offer and share. I want to continue to contribute to making this world healthier, wealthier, wiser, and hopefully a little less insane,” Max tells us, still expressing gratitude for the help he’s always received in his efforts to enrich his community. “I know that well over 90 percent of everything I’ve ever accomplished was because of the awesome people in my life.”
But those who know Max know none of those things would have happened if not for his leadership, his ingenuity and passion, his dedication and his perseverance.
