Police make arrest in stolen fire truck case

Sherlock Holmes wasn’t needed to aid police in solving the case of the stolen fire truck.

A Chesterfield resident has been arrested in connection with the theft of a Richmond Fire Department fire truck stolen earlier this month (see below).

Police have charged 20-year-old Zachary D. Oakley with burglary and grand larceny in connection to the theft. Police believe that the fire truck was removed from a City garage on the 1600 block of Commerce Road sometime between 4:00 PM on February 3rd and 6:00 AM on February 4th.

Police said that the investigation remains open and more arrests are possible.

ABC 8 is reporting that Oakley was charged with both breaking and entering and grand larceny in connection with a stolen ambulance in Henrico County last October.

Police are searching for a missing Richmond Fire Department truck that was reported stolen around 9:00 AM this morning. The truck was stolen from the garage located at 1650 Commerce Road. According to reports, the truck is a smaller engine, but has hoses attached and pumping capabilities.
