EVO “closed for repairs”

Hopefully the repairs will be made and they’ll re-open.

Update #1 — February 24, 2014; 9:19 AM

Over the weekend a For Rent sign went up on the property. It looks like the “repairs” aren’t going to happen at least for EVO.

The sign above is on the door and nobody is answering the phone at EVO Fine Sichuan Cuisine on Forest Hill Avenue. Closed for Repairs or Closed for Remodeling are often code for we’re closing for good but I know some folks are holding out hope that repairs are being made and EVO will re-open soon.

When I stopped by around 2:30 PM the restaurant was dark and at least the dining room was empty.

If we get more details I’ll let you know.

The sign’s been up since at least last Friday. I had already ordered online (but not paid) so I was bummed when I pulled into the parking lot.

I certainly hope they’ll be re-opening. They are far better than the other “Chinese” offerings in the nearby area. Also, it’s a much nicer environment than the others. When the place previously changed ownership it was a step in the right direction.

When you go to any restaurnat on a busy street and see 3 tables of people eating on Saturday night it is only a matter of time before the inevitable farewell. Thanks Evo for the great Shanghai noodles.

Dote, that’s horrible. Really sad to see them go. The newer ownership was better and the food was terrific. Crap.

  5. There is a “For Rent” sign out front now. Really unfortunate for the neighborhood, as the food seemed to be getting better and better recently. Do people know they actually made all of their wontons by hand? That place was great. Unfortunately I think this area just couldn’t support a higher-end Chinese menu like this, as opposed to cheaper american-chinese fare.
Hopefully this crew will resurface somewhere else in Richmond.

While their lunch specials were growing on me (food was good), I wasn’t surprised to see them go. There were usually only a few tables occupied if any, and I got my meals to go. I never found the staff friendly and rather curt (unless you were Asian), and the times I was there the staff gave the Asian customers better service than everyone else. I missed Asian Galaxy. I’ll get over Evo.
