Design Sponge turns its attention to Quirk Hotel

Quirk Hotel has quite the look.

I’m a sucker for an old photo so that’s why I picked the photo you see above. It shows what the lobby of the Quirk Hotel looked like back when it was a department store that opened in 1916.

You can see modern pictures and get a bit of background at Design Sponge.

The results are so stunning, I’m sure the hotel is bound to get the arts and design district all of the attention it deserves. That is the simple goal behind both of the team’s Quirk projects – to shine a light on Richmond’s often-overlooked design district and its artisans. What better way to get locals and tourists alike to consider visiting the area than by giving them a pretty place where they can dine and stay?
