Cultured Swine opening next Friday

Tamales, barbecue, and more.

The tamale is wonderful thing when done right and the gentlemen at Cultured Swine do it right with their own twist.

Previously you could only get their tamales and other tasty treats including bbq at either their food cart near Tredegar or at Triple Crossing on Thursday nights. Starting next Friday March 6th, you’ll be able to sit down in their restaurant at 317-A N. 2nd Street.

Richmond Magazine has the scoop and talks with the owners, Eric Freund II and Corey Johnson.

Johnson’s travels inform a small, but sturdy menu ranging from the familiar to the bizarre. (Dessert tamales, anyone?)

“It’s more the idea of being on tour and gathering all this information and bringing that skill set back home and making something of it,” Freund says, with Johnson quickly adding, “We don’t like to make something traditional; it’s all our own take.”

Hours for Cultured Swine will be 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
