Time to dispose of your Christmas tree

Bring One for the Chipper is on January 10th but there are other options as well.

Through January 10th, Richmond residents can load up their tree and take it to either East Richmond Road Convenience Center, 3800 East Richmond Road or Richmond Southside Transfer Station, 3520 N. Hopkins Road. If you’re lazy like most of us you can simply place it next to your Supercan for collection where it will be recycled.

Update/Correction: Public Works will collect Christmas trees curbside/alley (where you put your supercan) from January 12 through January 30 for residents who contact the 311 Call Center or 804-646-0999. Let the agent know you have a Bulk Pick-Up/Live Christmas Tree for pickup.

Trees left out with your supercan may not be picked up on regular trash collection days, as a separate truck is needed to collect them.

Also there is the Bring One for the Chipper event on January 10th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM where you can watch your documents get shredded as well. This one is hosted by City of Richmond Dept of Public Works and Richmond CCC, field at corner of North Boulevard & Robin Hood Rd)

If you live in the county check at CVWMA for your options.

Cute little guy above is Georgia’s chipper mascot. Richmond needs a chipper mascot.
