Child hit by car on Semmes
The accident happened around 9:30 at 27th Street and Semmes Avenue in Richmond.
A boy has been taken to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 9:30 at 27th Street and Semmes Avenue in Richmond. Few details are available at this time, but the child reportedly suffered facial injuries.
There is no evidence to support that speed was involved in this incident but does anyone else feel that people tend to treat Semmes as a racetrack?

Agreed, it is treated by a racetrack by commuters who don’t live in the neighborhood and don’t care for our safety. When will the city traffic engineers start responding to and designing for the needs of city residents, rather than blindly following antiquated narrow-minded design goals optimized for suburban living?
Yes, as they also do to residential streets they use as cut-throughs.
Agreed. If you go the speed limit, people either ride your bumper or whip in and out of traffic. Love it when one of them gets caught behind a bus and I drive right by them.
First the father and son were hit at the crosswalk on Forest Hill and now this on Semmes. We need to make a reach out to Lt. Garcia and start requesting that the traffic unit start patrolling and ticketing on Forest Hill and Semmes. If enough people request action then they will respond.
Yes, people drive too fast on Semmes Ave. and plenty of them, unfortunately, live in the adjoining neighborhoods. I see them regularly. Area residents also use Riverside Drive as their personal speedway.
In other words, it’s not just suburban commuters who ignore speed limits.
