Nobody was injured in the incident which occurred around 11:00 AM.

The tweet above shows us the aftermath of some excitement down in Manchester late this morning.

RTD fills us in on what led to the scene above.

Police closed the Mayo Bridge this morning after a man being sought in a theft case fled from officers and crashed on the south end of the span.

Police later captured the man as was trying to run across the bridge, and they charged him with felony eluding. His identity was not immediately released.

Richmond police spokesman James Mercante said the incident began shortly after 11 a.m. when officers were investigating a property crime case and tried to speak with a suspect. The man fled from officers and jumped in a Chrysler sedan in the 1000 block of Decatur Street and drove off toward the Mayo Bridge.

After the car crashed at the south end of the span, police closed the bridge in both directions while they cleaned up the crash scene.

Mercante said the man, who was not injured in the crash, remained a suspect in the theft case, which was still under investigation.
