Captain Buzzy’s vs. neighbors, again

The intrigue, the mystery, the made for Lifetime Drama that is Churchill Coffee Shop Chaos.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before but apparently Captain Buzzy’s doesn’t get along with some their neighbors. Quite the newsflash I know but this latest chapter has a new twist that I didn’t see coming.

Details from Style Weekly.

While a group of Church Hill residents fought off a coffee shop’s attempt to sell beer and wine last year by saying it would disturb the neighborhood, the owner now says one of those residents was looking to do the same thing all along.

Captain Buzzy’s Beanery owner Bob Buffington, who sued four neighbors in December over their efforts to block a special use permit, filed an amended lawsuit today alleging that neighbor John Whitworth’s attempts to scuttle Buffington’s plans were more about business than neighborhood peace.

Kim Chen is and was guilty of assault. She did a plea bargin and community service to get the charge dismissed. She has never denied throwing the pot!

John Whitworth likes to be the treasurer of ANY organization. He has been treasurer for the Church Hill Association, and is now the contact person for a group that he secured $5000.00 of CHA funds for. He was treasurer for the 2300 Club and substantial funds were misappropriated during his tenure. He is now treasurer of the Church Hill Petanque Club. While serving on the Board for the Church Hill Association, the Petanque Club received endorsement and money from the CHA. The Chimbarazo Playground now has 14 Petanque Courts. These courts are used one day a week by 15 people.
They can not be used for any other purpose.

Mr. Whitworth teamed up with Ms. Chen in an attempt to run Mr. Buffington out of business. He and she have no shame, however their day of reconing is here with more to come!
