Body found on East Canal Street

Ducic was a senior engineering student who died near his residence in the 00 block of E. Canal Street.

Shortly before 1:15 a.m. Sunday, officers were flagged down and told a person was lying in the road in the 100 block of E. Canal.

The victim, who was unconscious and not breathing, was pronounced dead at the scene. After an autopsy, the medical examiner determined the death to be accidental and the result of a fall.

Richmond police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found early Sunday in the 100 block of East Canal Street.

Police spokeswoman Susan Rowland said officers were called to the scene shortly before 1:15 a.m. and found the body. Emergency medical services were called and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rowland said the investigation is in a preliminary stage and no information is available about cause of the man’s death.

Police urge anyone with information about the death to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
