Bike lane design, ride, and lunch downtown on Sunday

A little ride, a little nibble, and a healthy discussion are on the menu.

Bike lanes shouldn’t be created in a vacuum, they should be created over lunch and a ride.

Everything kickoffs at 10 AM on Sunday at the HI Richmond Hostel (7 N 2nd Street).

From Facebook:

Join Downtown Connects and local bike infrastructure advocates to discuss the possibility of bike lanes on Main and Franklin Streets in Downtown and Monroe Ward as a part of bikeable connections identified in the Richmond Bicycle Master Plan.

The agenda will include a presentation on bike lanes, where the project stands in the City’s administrative processes, an opportunity to provide comments on design objectives (in text and visually), and a ride around the approximately 2 mile loop. A light lunch will be served afterward to conclude the discussion. If you would like to join for the lunch (and please do!), please bring a $5-10 suggested donation to help cover the costs.

We look forward to seeing you there! Please share with anyone who lives in or near downtown Richmond, or those who commute, work, or visit there to help provide the best input on how Richmond can make Downtown safer and more comfortable for walking and biking as a transportation option.
