Arrest made in yesterday’s shooting at Wal-Mart parking lot

Citizens in the area acted quickly, calling 911 and sharing information with officers and Major Crimes detectives. This led to strong leads in the case and a swift arrest.

Richmond Police detectives have arrested a Richmond man in connection with a shooting this morning on the city’s south side.

Randall C. Hicks, 26, of the 1400 block of Hull Street, was arrested this evening and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Both charges are felonies. A booking photo is not yet available.

Shortly before noon today, officers responded to the 2400 block of Sheila Lane for a report of a shooting. They arrived on scene to find an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The case remains under investigation, and detectives are not prepared to release additional details about the case at this time.
